Best Time to Visit Long Coc Tea Hills: A Season-by-Season Guide
Mist in the cooler months, bright green in summer, blossom around Tet: how the Long Coc tea hills change through the year.

The tea hills of Long Coc are green all year, but the experience changes a lot with the season. Here is what to expect so you can choose the right moment.
SPRING (FEBRUARY TO APRIL)
Spring brings soft light, new tea shoots and blossom around the Lunar New Year. Mornings are often misty, which gives Long Coc its famous "sea of clouds" look. It is a lovely time for walking and photography, and the air is cool.
SUMMER (MAY TO AUGUST)
Summer is hot and humid, with heavy afternoon showers. The tea is a deep, bright green and the countryside is lush. Go out early, rest at midday and plan a swim or a long lunch. Storms can make small roads slippery, so check the forecast.
AUTUMN (SEPTEMBER TO NOVEMBER)
Fresh tea buds in the growing areaMany travellers think autumn is the best balance: clearer skies, comfortable temperatures and good chances of morning mist. Rice fields around Phu Tho turn golden in early autumn, adding colour to the drive.
WINTER (DECEMBER TO JANUARY)
Winter in northern Vietnam can be cold and grey, especially in the early morning. Mist is common, and the hills look moody and quiet. Bring warm layers; nights in wooden houses feel cosy with a hot tea.
THE BEST TIME OF DAY
Whatever the month, sunrise is the moment. Mist usually sits in the valleys between the hills and lifts as the sun warms the air. Arrive at a viewpoint before sunrise and stay an hour. Late afternoon is the second-best window, with warm side light.
AVOIDING CROWDS
Weekends and public holidays are busier with visitors from Hanoi. A weekday visit gives you quieter paths and easier photos.

Is mist guaranteed? No. It depends on humidity and temperature. Staying overnight gives you more than one chance.
Is the rainy season a bad time? Not necessarily. Rain falls mostly in short bursts, and the hills are at their greenest.
Where should I stay? Somewhere close enough to reach a viewpoint at dawn, such as Ngoc Dong Eco Village in Thanh Son.
